Merino Plywood Price: Tuff BWP, Tuff MR, Superply and Mandasa Explained

Short answer: Merino, best known for decorative laminates, also sells plywood. Its website lists four series: Tuff BWP, a 100% boiling water proof sheet bonded with phenol formaldehyde resin that Merino makes in-house and tested against IS 710 values; Tuff MR for interiors; and the Superply and Mandasa series. Merino says its plywood is built mainly on eucalyptus (safeda) and poplar grown in India. Merino does not publish plywood prices, so judge a quote against the verified benchmarks below.

One detail for careful buyers: Merino's Tuff BWP page quotes test values from an older edition of IS 710. The current standard is IS 710:2024, which licensees had to adopt by December 2024, so ask the dealer to show the licence the sheet is made under. What to pay: benchmarks for a Merino quote
With no Merino price list, compare its quote with what similar sheets cost in 2026. Branded BWP and marine plywood in 18-19mm sold for about ₹120-175 per sq ft, and unbranded BWP for about ₹78-113. CenturyPly's Sainik 710 lists at ₹122 per unit (1 sq ft) including GST, and Greenply's guide puts 19mm 710 Marine at about ₹125.

A Tuff BWP quote well below the unbranded band, or well above the branded band, deserves a second look. Ask for the thickness, grade and GST in writing, and compare with 18mm BWP plywood prices.
Merino Marine Board is not plywood
Merino also sells Merino Marine Board and Merino Marine FR Board, which it lists under panels, not plywood. These are water and moisture resistant boards, not veneer-layered plywood, so do not compare their price with Tuff BWP. They suit laminated furniture where a flat, uniform board helps; for load-bearing kitchen carcasses and sink bases, BWP plywood remains the safer choice. See plywood vs particle board.
Merino laminates on plywood
Most buyers meet Merino through its laminates. Pairing a Merino laminate with any good BWP or MR plywood is common and fine; the laminate decides the finish, the plywood decides strength and water resistance. How to check you are buying genuine Merino plywood
- Read the sheet marking. Every plywood sheet sold in India must carry the ISI mark with a CM/L licence number (CM/L followed by 10 digits) and the standard it is made to: IS 303 for MR, BWR and BWP grades, IS 710 for marine, IS 10701 for structural and IS 5509 for fire-retardant plywood. - Verify the licence. Enter the CM/L number in the BIS Care app (Verify Licence Details) or on the BIS website. The licence holder should match the brand or its contract maker, and the standard should match the grade on your quote. See how to check the ISI mark on plywood.
- Get it on the invoice. Ask for a GST invoice that names the series, grade and thickness. A quote that says only "18mm waterproof" cannot be held to anything later.
What moved plywood prices in 2026
Resin chemicals drove most of the change this year. Phenol and formaldehyde, the raw materials for BWR and BWP glue, rose sharply in March and April 2026, and the large brands passed it on: CenturyPly raised plywood prices by about 7% in April and Greenply by about 4-5%. MDF makers announced increases of around 15% from April, but most of those were rolled back by August. GST on plywood stays at 18%, unchanged by the September 2025 rate changes.
