Who makes Wigwam plywood
Wigwam is the plywood brand of Savitri Woods, a Hoshiarpur company that says it began in early 2003.
According to its Our Story page, the WIGWAM brand name dates to 2018, a plywood unit was set up in Hoshiarpur in 2012, and an engineered face veneer unit followed there in 2016. The page claims presence in 22 Indian states and union territories as of 2021 and calls the brand "the first brand to provide ONLY Calibrated Plywood". These are the company's own statements. The page gives no production capacity and names no specific certification; it says only that the company offers plywood with the required and latest certifications.
Wigwam plywood ranges: Excel, Fabricate Club, Fabricate MDP and more
Wigwam sells two broad families, the Wigwam line (Excel, Visor, Contender, Club Plus) and the Fabricate series, and the product name tells you the face veneer and tier more than the thickness.
The home page features Wigwam Excel, Fabricate Club and Fabricate MDP. The product pages add the rest.
| Range | What the brand page says | Grade or standard shown | Guarantee shown on that page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wigwam Excel (BWP and MR) | Hardwood timber, both sides calibrated, termite and microbe resistant | BWP on the marine page, MR on the MR page; blockboard page lists Okoume face veneer and E1 | Lifetime, 300% cashback on the BWP listing |
| Wigwam BWP and Wigwam MR | BWP: eucalyptus construction. MR: eucalyptus and poplar, 60 degree hot water resistant | E1 on BWP; MR ordered to IS 303 grade | BWP: 25 years, 200% cashback |
| Fabricate Club (BWP, MR) | Gurjan face veneer, 100% hardwood, density 750-800 kg/m3, both sides calibrated | E1 | 30 years, 300% cashback |
| Fabricate Gold (BWP, MR) | Okoume face veneer, density 750-800 kg/m3 | E1 | 25 years, 200% cashback |
| Fabricate HDP (BWP, MR) | Engineered face veneer, suited to direct painting and polishing, density listed as above 750 | E1 | 10 years |
| Fabricate MDP (BWP, MR) | Engineered face veneer; MR version described as 60 degree hot water resistant, BWP version as boiling waterproof | E1 certified | 10 years |
| Fabricate Birch | Birch face veneer, listed for MR plywood and blockboard | E1 | 30 years, 300% cashback (MR page) |
| Wigwam Visor | "Super Premium Grade" structural, fire retardant and marine; both sides calibrated; vacuum pressure impregnation | Conforms to IS 10701, IS 5509 and IS 710 per the site; E0 emission stated | Lifetime, 700% cashback |
| Wigwam Contender and Club Plus | Fire retardant grade, both sides calibrated; Club Plus density 800 kg/m3 | Club Plus E1 certified; Contender no emission class stated | Lifetime; cashback figure varies by page |
The site prints some densities as "kg/cm3", almost certainly a typo for kg/m3.
What Fabricate MDP is, as far as the site shows
The site lists Fabricate MDP in both BWP and MR forms with an engineered face veneer and a 10 year guarantee. It does not publish density, core species or thickness for it. If a dealer pitches MDP for a kitchen, ask which of the two grades is on the quote and read the stamp on the sheet.
Other families: blockboard, flush doors, birch and flexible plywood
The blockboard page offers BWP and MR grades with Hexaforce construction, a pine or selected timber core and E1 on most products, and lists Okoume, birch and gurjan face veneers across Excel, Fabricate Birch, Fabricate Club and Fabricate Gold. The flush door page describes a hybrid door marked IS 2202, boiling water proof and termite resistant, plus Club Plus and Fabricate Club doors with a gurjan face. Birch and flexible plywood appear in the site navigation; PlyPrice read no specification for flexible plywood, so none is stated here. For door material choices, see the flush door material guide.
Where the Wigwam pages disagree, and what to confirm
The brand's own pages differ on thickness and guarantee terms, so treat each product page as a starting point and confirm the exact spec on the quotation.
- Thickness for Visor: the structural page lists 12mm and 18mm, while the FAQ lists 16mm (13 layers) and 19mm (15 layers) and says to confirm 18mm availability.
- Blockboard thickness: the body text says 19mm and 25mm; the page description says 12mm, 18mm and 25mm.
- Guarantee for Contender and Club Plus: the fire retardant page shows lifetime with 500% cashback for both; the guarantee page shows 200% for Contender and 100% for Club Plus.
- "Lifetime" on every board: a line on several pages says the guarantee is "sirf Lifetime waali" (only lifetime), yet product listings show 10, 15, 25 and 30 year terms.
Ask the dealer to write the series, grade, thickness and guarantee term on the invoice, and ask for the warranty card for that exact product.
Standards and certification: what the site says and what to check
Wigwam's pages name several IS numbers, but they show no CM/L licence number, so the licence check has to be done on the sheet you are buying.
Per its own pages, wigwamply.com cites IS 710 on its marine page, IS 303 for MR, IS 5509 for fire retardant, IS 10701 for structural and IS 2202 for its hybrid flush door. The FAQ tells buyers to ask dealers for certification and test documents.
In BIS terms, IS 303:2024 covers MR, BWR and BWP general purpose plywood, and its BWP grade is tested by a 72-hour boil. IS 710:2024 covers marine plywood, with a 72-hour boil, glue shear minimums and preservative treatment. The two are not interchangeable, so a board sold as "BWP" is not automatically marine plywood. The BWP vs marine plywood guide explains the gap.
On emissions, the site lists E0 for Visor and E1 for most Fabricate boards. The BIS standard for plywood recognises E1 and E2 classes only, so "E0" is a brand claim; ask for the test report if indoor air quality is a priority. The fire retardant pages give no flame penetration figures, so ask for the rating of the exact product before specifying it.
Wigwam plywood price in November 2026
Wigwam does not publish prices; its pages say rates depend on size, thickness and specification and send you to an enquiry form or a channel partner.
PlyPrice looked for dated dealer and B2B listings on 3 November 2026 and found none with a usable price. An L&T SuFin page for "Wigwam 18 mm Calibrated Plywood 8 x 4 ft IS 710" (seller in Chennai) showed a placeholder of ₹0 per sq ft. A Hyderabad dealer page for Wigwam Excel 19mm showed "₹155" with no unit, date, GST or transport statement. A figure without a unit cannot be turned into a per sheet price, so neither is used here.
Market band for Wigwam grades
The ranges below are PlyPrice's verified 2026 bands for 18-19mm plywood, in ₹ per sq ft, with an 8x4 sheet at 32 sq ft. They describe the market for the grade, not Wigwam's own pricing.
| Grade (18-19mm) | Branded band, ₹ per sq ft | Branded, per 8x4 sheet | Local or unbranded ISI, ₹ per sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|
| MR | 85-130 | ₹2,720-4,160 | 45-80 |
| BWR | 95-160 | ₹3,040-5,120 | 45-85 |
| BWP or marine | 120-175 | ₹3,840-5,600 | 78-113 |
Wigwam's MR page lists 12, 18 and 25mm and its BWP pages refer to 12 and 19mm. The table below is a PlyPrice estimate (method: the 19mm branded band multiplied by Greenply's April 2026 thickness steps, 12mm about 70% and 25mm about 154% of 19mm, then multiplied by 32). It is a budgeting guide, not a quote.
| Thickness | MR estimate, ₹ per sq ft | MR per 8x4 sheet | BWP or marine estimate, ₹ per sq ft | BWP or marine per 8x4 sheet |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12mm | 60-91 | ₹1,904-2,912 | 84-123 | ₹2,688-3,920 |
| 19mm | 85-130 | ₹2,720-4,160 | 120-175 | ₹3,840-5,600 |
| 25mm | 131-200 | ₹4,189-6,406 | 185-270 | ₹5,914-8,624 |
GST on plywood is 18%. When you compare quotes, check whether the rate includes GST, transport, loading and cutting, and divide the sheet price by 32 to get the per sq ft figure. See the plywood sheet price guide for benchmarks.
Wigwam vs generic alternatives
Against local unbranded ISI plywood, a Wigwam board is likely to cost more per sheet and comes with a written guarantee, a named face veneer and a manufacturer to claim from.
| Point | Wigwam (as published) | Local or unbranded ISI plywood |
|---|---|---|
| Price, 18-19mm BWP or marine | Not published; branded band ₹120-175 per sq ft | ₹78-113 per sq ft |
| Price, 18-19mm MR | Not published; branded band ₹85-130 per sq ft | ₹45-80 per sq ft |
| Guarantee | 10 years to lifetime, by product, with cashback multiples | Usually the dealer's promise only |
| Face veneer | Gurjan, Okoume, birch or engineered face, by series | Varies; ask for the species |
| Calibration | Stated for the brand's plywood | Varies by unit; measure thickness yourself |
| Dealer reach | Channel partners, no locator on the page read | Local availability |
For a dry bedroom wardrobe, an MR sheet from a reliable unit is often enough. Kitchens, bathrooms and sink-base units justify BWP. The MR vs BWR vs BWP guide maps grade to room.
Wigwam guarantee: what is promised
The guarantee pages give durations and cashback multiples but not a claim procedure, so read the warranty card before you rely on it.
The guarantee page lists lifetime with 700% cashback for Visor, lifetime with 200% for Contender, lifetime with 100% for Club Plus products (MR plywood, MR blockboard, marine plywood, BWP blockboard, BWP doors) and 15 years for Wigwam MR plywood, MR blockboard, BWP plywood and BWP blockboard. It lists Wigwam Hybrid, Curl, Instyla and Glazed as warranted against all manufacturing defects. It states no exclusions, no claim documents and no method for working out the cashback.
The marine and MR pages add 30 years with 300% cashback for Fabricate Club, 25 years with 200% for Fabricate Gold and 10 years for HDP and MDP. Keep the invoice, a photo of the stamp on the sheet and the card. The plywood warranty guide explains lifetime cover.
Where Wigwam plywood is sold and why regional availability matters
Wigwam's base is Hoshiarpur in Punjab, and it sells through channel partners that you reach through an enquiry form.
The Channel Partners page is a dealer enquiry page with forms for name, phone, address and pincode, not a dealer locator, and it names no dealers or cities. The brand's own claim is presence in 22 states and union territories, which PlyPrice could not confirm for any particular city.
Availability matters for three reasons in north India. Freight on 8x4 sheets is heavy and priced per vehicle, so distance from the nearest dealer stock shows up in the delivered rate. Monsoon and winter damp reach carcasses stored at site, so sheets should be stacked flat, off the floor and covered. And a thickness or face veneer that is out of stock tends to be replaced by a substitute, which is why the invoice should name the series and grade. See also the plywood manufacturing hubs guide.
How to buy and verify Wigwam plywood
Check the licence, the IS number and the paperwork before the sheets are unloaded.
- ISI mark and CM/L number: verify the CM/L number (CM/L- followed by 10 digits) in the BIS Care app (Verify Licence Details) or on Manak Online (Status of Licence). The ISI mark has been mandatory on plywood since 28 February 2025, phased for small and micro units, and on blockboard since 11 February 2025.
- IS number: read the IS number printed beside the mark and confirm the licence covers that product.
- Invoice: brand, series (for example Excel or Fabricate Club), grade (MR, BWR or BWP), thickness, sheet size, quantity and GST written out.
- Guarantee: a warranty card for your exact product, with the cashback multiple and term written on it.
- Edge and core: look for gaps, overlaps and edge lifting; measure thickness at four corners, since calibrated sheets should read evenly.
- Delivered price: transport, loading and cutting written separately, then converted to per sq ft including GST.
For more, see how to check the ISI mark and CM/L number. Use the Channel Partners page on wigwamply.com to send an enquiry.
