Insights & Buying Guides

Calibrated plywood costs roughly ₹45 to ₹160 per sq ft in India depending on thickness and grade, a premium paid for sanding both faces to within about ±0.3mm. That uniform thickness can cut material waste by 5-10% in modular wardrobes and cabinets.

25mm BWP plywood is a 13-15 ply, phenolic-bonded board built to survive more than 72 hours of boiling, so it costs more than 19mm BWP and is used for heavy-duty structural and wet-area work. Prices vary by brand, core and market.

25mm BWR plywood costs more per sq ft than 18mm because it packs more veneer plies and phenolic glue, and rates swing by brand, core wood and city. It earns its price where you need rigidity without metal reinforcement, such as heavy shelving and structural furniture.

18mm BWP plywood costs about ₹100 to ₹220 per sq ft in India, roughly ₹3,200 to ₹7,000 per sheet, depending on core species, brand and city. Its phenolic glue survives boiling water tests to IS:710, which makes it the pick for kitchens and wet-area furniture.

In October 2026, 18mm BWR plywood cost about ₹45-85 per sq ft for local ISI sheets and ₹95-160 for branded ones, or roughly ₹1,440-5,120 for an 8x4 sheet. Under IS 303:2024, BWR samples must survive three cycles of 8-hour boiling, which suits kitchen wall units and humid rooms but not the sink base.

An 18mm MR plywood sheet costs roughly ₹1,800 to ₹3,800 in India, about ₹55 to ₹120 per sq ft, depending on brand and region. Its urea-formaldehyde glue handles indoor humidity but not boiling water, so keep it to dry wardrobes and furniture.

16mm BWP plywood costs about ₹70 to ₹150 per sq ft in India, roughly ₹2,200 to ₹4,800 per sheet, depending on brand and region. It is rigid enough for kitchen cabinet frames and wardrobe shutters in damp areas while being lighter than 19mm sheets.

16mm BWR plywood costs roughly ₹60-120 per sq ft in India, about ₹1,900-3,800 for a full sheet, with city and brand driving the spread. It suits kitchen and bathroom cabinets, wardrobes and partitions where moisture exposure is moderate rather than constant.

16mm MR plywood is an IS 303 interior grade bonded with urea-formaldehyde glue, priced by quality tier and region, and it suits wardrobes, furniture and partitions in dry rooms. Compare price tiers, metro vs manufacturing hub rates, span limits and MR vs BWR or BWP.
