Use BWP or marine plywood (IS 710) of at least 18mm for kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, and BWR plywood (IS 303) of 18-19mm for wardrobes and living room furniture. MR grade is best kept to dry, low-load pieces where moisture is not a risk.

Flexi ply is flexible plywood whose veneers all run in the same direction, so it bends into curves without cracking. Carpenters use it for curved furniture, reception desks and columns, and it typically costs ₹35-130 per sq ft in India.

A flush door is made by sandwiching a core of solid wood strips, particleboard or hollow cellular infill between two plywood or MDF face sheets, giving a flat surface that sits in line with the frame. Prices run about ₹90-330 per sq ft.

Fabric laminate is a high-pressure decorative laminate whose surface copies the look and feel of linen, cotton, silk or burlap, and it costs about ₹45-150 per sq ft in India. It suits wardrobe shutters, feature walls and office panels where you want texture without fabric upkeep.

The main types of laminates sold in India are high pressure laminate (HPL), low pressure laminate (LPL), acrylic, PU finish and compact laminate, priced from about ₹30 to ₹350 per sq ft. HPL is the everyday standard for kitchens and wardrobes, while acrylic and PU cost more for high-gloss looks.

India classifies plywood three ways: by water resistance (MR, BWR, BWP or marine), by application (shuttering, calibrated, flexible) and by core wood (gurjan, eucalyptus, poplar). Most sheets cost ₹35 to ₹150 per sq ft depending on grade.

Modern jali door designs cut geometric, floral or abstract openings into wood, CNC-cut plywood or MDF, or metal panels, so air and light pass through while privacy stays intact. Patterns, materials and rates differ for main doors, pooja rooms and kitchens.

Door skin is a thin decorative sheet, usually 0.6mm to 4mm thick, bonded to a flush door to give it a designer face without solid wood. Indian buyers can choose HDF moulded, paper print, PVC, laminate or veneer skins, priced from about ₹75 to ₹1,500 per piece.
