Who makes Trojan plywood
Trojan is the plywood brand of the MAK Group, and the products are made by Mak Plywood Industries Pvt. Ltd., according to the brand's About page.
The About page describes the group as covering "MAK Realty and Trojan Plywood" and calls Mak Plywood Industries one of south India's leading timber trading and manufacturing houses. It cites "nearly 40 years" of plywood manufacturing and sales but gives no founding year, plant location or capacity, so PlyPrice does not state any. Beyond plywood, the site lists Trojan WPC and PVC boards; read the WPC board guide if you are weighing those against plywood.
The certification page lists ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, CE marking tied to EN 13986, an IGBC membership certificate and an Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code certificate, and says it can supply FSC certified plywood. It shows the editions ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004, so ask for the current certificates if a tender requires them. The page shows a BIS logo but gives no BIS licence number.
Trojan plywood ranges: Flagship, Premium and Regulation
Trojan sorts its plywood into three ranges, and the series name tells you the tier and the warranty, not the thickness.
| Range and series | Grades listed | Standard shown on the page | Warranty shown on the page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flagship: Signature | Boiling Water Proof | IS 710 Certified | Lifetime (35 years), up to 700% replacement |
| Flagship: Platinum | Boiling Water Proof | IS 710 Certified | Lifetime (35 years), up to 500% replacement |
| Flagship: Classic | Boiling Water Proof; MR mentioned for dry areas | IS 710 Certified | 35 years on the BWP variant, up to 300% replacement |
| Flagship: Champion | Boiling Water Proof | Fire Retardant (IS 5509 Certified) | 30 years |
| Flagship: Pride | Boiling Water Proof and MR | IS 303 Certified | 20 years on BWP, 10 years on MR |
| Premium: Challenger, Extrema, Troy Club | Boiling Water Proof and MR | Fire Retardant (IS 5509 Certified); other IS numbers appear only as logos | 30 years on BWP, 10 years on MR |
| Regulation: Troy Gold | Boiling Water Proof and MR | IS 303 Certified | 20 years on BWP, 10 years on MR |
| Regulation: Troy Silver | MR only | None stated | None listed |
What the brand says goes into the boards
Every series lists Quad Press technology (not on the MR grade, per the Premium page), stainless steel plates for face pressing, seasoning of the finished sheet and "Trojan Core Protection Technology" against termites and borers. Calibration is listed on the BWP variants, and Signature, Platinum and Classic add vacuum pressure treatment and finger joint panels. The Flagship and Premium pages state no emission class, so do not assume E1 or E0; ask the dealer for a test report if indoor air matters.
The fire retardant claims carry "conditions apply" notes, and Champion is the series marked IS 5509. Read the fire retardant plywood guide before specifying it on a commercial job.
Trojan BWP plywood and the IS number: what the site says, and what to check
The brand's own pages attach different IS numbers to different series, so the number printed on your sheet matters more than the series name.
Per its own Flagship page, trojanply.com marks Signature, Platinum and Classic as IS 710 Certified, and a customer testimonial on its home page calls Platinum marine plywood. Its buyer's guide FAQ says "IS 303 and IS 710 for normal plywood", while Pride and Troy Gold are marked IS 303 Certified.
In BIS terms, IS 303:2024 covers MR, BWR and BWP general purpose plywood. Its BWP grade is tested by a 72-hour boil. IS 710:2024 covers marine plywood, with a 72-hour boil, glue shear minimums and preservative treatment. The two standards are not interchangeable; the BWP vs marine plywood guide and the IS 303, IS 710 and IS 5509 explainer cover the difference.
PlyPrice cannot see the stamp on your sheet, so the practical step is simple. Ask the dealer which IS number is printed beside the ISI mark, and verify that the CM/L number covers that standard in the BIS Care app or on Manak Online. Pay for the grade the licence supports, not for the series name.
Trojan plywood price in November 2026
Trojan does not publish prices; its site routes price questions to a contact form with state and city selectors, so your price comes from a dealer.
The only dated retail figures PlyPrice could read were three Trojan listings on Material Depot, seen on 3 November 2026. The pages show the 8x4 ft size, 32 sq ft per sheet, but no city, pincode or GST statement, so treat them as indicative retail rates.
| Listing (Material Depot, seen 3 November 2026) | Thickness | Rate per sq ft | Price per 8x4 sheet |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trojan Classic, BWP grade | 4mm | ₹78.29 | ₹2,505.10 |
| Trojan Champion, BWP grade | 6mm | ₹87.53 | ₹2,801.25 |
| Trojan Platinum, BWP grade | 25mm | ₹309.58 | ₹9,906.62 |
The listings show warranties of 30, 21 and 25 years for Classic, Champion and Platinum, which differ from the 35, 30 and 35 years on trojanply.com. Use the brand's pages and the warranty card, not the listing text. An L&T SuFin B2B listing for a 12mm Trojan board (2440 x 1220mm, seller in Bengaluru) showed ₹0 in November 2026, so it gives no usable price. No IndiaMART dealer listing for Trojan with a visible rate turned up in PlyPrice's search.
Thickness-wise estimate for a Trojan BWP sheet
Because listings for 12mm and 19mm were not available, the table below is a PlyPrice estimate (method: the 18-19mm branded BWP or marine band of ₹120-175 per sq ft multiplied by Greenply's April 2026 thickness steps, 6mm about 48%, 12mm about 70%, 25mm about 154% of 19mm, then multiplied by 32 for an 8x4 sheet).
| Thickness | Estimated branded band, ₹ per sq ft | Estimated per 8x4 sheet |
|---|---|---|
| 6mm | ₹58-84 | ₹1,843-2,688 |
| 12mm | ₹84-123 | ₹2,688-3,920 |
| 19mm | ₹120-175 | ₹3,840-5,600 |
| 25mm | ₹185-270 | ₹5,914-8,624 |
The Greenply steps come from a marine plywood guide, so read the table as a budgeting guide, not a quote. The Champion 6mm and Platinum 25mm listings sit slightly above the top of these ranges, which is common for single-sheet retail pricing. For wider benchmarks see the plywood sheet price guide.
Trojan plywood vs generic alternatives
Against unbranded ISI plywood, a Trojan board costs more per sheet and offers a longer written warranty, a named treatment process and a manufacturer to claim from.
| Point | Trojan (as published) | Local or unbranded ISI plywood |
|---|---|---|
| Price, 18-19mm BWP or marine, ₹ per sq ft | Not published; branded band ₹120-175 | ₹78-113 |
| Price, 18-19mm MR, ₹ per sq ft | Not published; branded band ₹85-130 | ₹45-80 |
| Warranty | 10 to 35 years by series and grade, with conditions | Usually dealer promise only |
| Process claims | Quad Press, core protection, calibration on BWP | Varies by unit; ask for thickness tolerance |
| Claims route | Manufacturer inspection, test certificate | Through the dealer |
| Dealer reach | No locator on the pages read | Local availability |
For a dry bedroom wardrobe, an MR sheet from a reliable unit is often enough; kitchens, bathrooms and coastal homes in Kerala, Karnataka and Goa justify the BWP grade. The MR vs BWR vs BWP guide maps the grades to rooms. As a published-price reference point, CenturyPly lists Sainik 710 as IS 303 BWP at ₹122 per sq ft including GST, which also shows that a "710" in a product name does not by itself tell you the standard.
Trojan warranty: what is promised and how to claim
Trojan's warranty is long on paper but conditional, and its Flagship and guarantee pages do not agree on every figure.
- Signature: lifetime (35 years) against borer and termites, with seven times the replacement cost or treatment.
- Platinum: lifetime (35 years), five times the replacement cost or treatment.
- Classic: 35 years on BWP and 15 years on MR per the guarantee page, with three times the replacement cost on BWP.
- Champion: 30 years on BWP. The Flagship page says up to 200% replacement; the guarantee page says three times.
- Pride: 20 years on BWP, 10 on MR, covering borer only.
The Flagship and Premium pages note that the warranty applies from 1 April 2026 on BWP variants, and that termite cover does not apply in Kerala for several series. Replacement is capped at the post-fabrication cost or the total interior works cost, whichever is less. Termite cover on Platinum and Classic applies to boards manufactured from April 2023 onwards.
To claim, you need proof of purchase from the company or an authorised dealer. Trojan sends a representative to inspect, may take samples, and considers claims only against a test certificate confirming a manufacturing defect. It asks you to match the board to the marking and identification sticker. Keep the invoice, a photo of the sheet stamp and the warranty card; the plywood warranty guide explains what lifetime cover means in practice.
Where Trojan plywood is sold
Trojan sells through dealers and an enquiry route, and the pages read show no dealer locator.
The home page offers a contact form with country, state and city selectors, and the buyer's guide points enquiries to that form. The Material Depot and L&T SuFin listings above show it also appears on online marketplaces, but PlyPrice cannot say which cities have stock. In humid southern markets, confirm the series, thickness and grade before you finalise a design. Kerala buyers should read the termite exclusion in the warranty carefully.
How to buy and verify Trojan plywood
Check the licence, the IS number and the paperwork before the sheets are unloaded.
- ISI mark and CM/L number: verify the CM/L number (CM/L- followed by 10 digits) in the BIS Care app (Verify Licence Details) or on Manak Online (Status of Licence). The ISI mark has been mandatory on plywood since 28 February 2025, phased for small and micro units. Trojan's certification page shows no licence number, so the check has to be done on the sheet.
- IS number: read the IS number printed with the ISI mark and confirm the licence covers it. Do not rely on the series name alone.
- Invoice: series name, grade (BWP or MR), thickness, sheet size, quantity and GST written out.
- Warranty: a warranty card for your series, plus the identification sticker on the sheet.
- Edge and core: look for gaps, overlaps and edge lifting; measure thickness at four corners, since calibrated sheets should read evenly.
- Delivered price: transport, loading and cutting written separately, then converted to per sq ft including GST (sheet price divided by 32 for 8x4).
