Use MR plywood for dry bedrooms, BWR for kitchens and BWP for bathrooms and other wet areas. The difference is the glue: MR uses urea-formaldehyde, BWR uses phenolic resin that survives 4-8 hours of boiling, and BWP uses extended-cure phenolic glue for constant moisture.

Blockboard is usually the better choice for tall doors because its wooden strip core resists warping in panels longer than 7 feet, while layered plywood is versatile but more prone to bowing in long door frames. MR plywood also falls short for exterior doors.

HDHMR is usually the safer wardrobe board in humid Indian homes: it is pressed to about 800-900 kg/m³ with moisture-repellent resins, so it resists swelling better than standard MDF. MDF typically costs less upfront and suits dry rooms and painted finishes.

BWP plywood is generally the safer pick for sink bases and other wet zones in an Indian kitchen, while HDHMR's dense, flat surface suits shutters and modular carcasses away from direct water. Compare moisture resistance, screw holding and price before you order.

For wardrobes, beds and other load-bearing furniture, plywood is the stronger choice because its cross-laminated veneers resist bending and sagging; MDF's uniform, smooth surface makes it better for painted and decorative pieces kept away from moisture.

Duroply's own online storefront listed Duro Plus 18mm at about ₹109 per sq ft and its top Titanium grade (IS 710) at about ₹202 per sq ft for 16mm in October 2026, with Pumaply as its weather-proof IS 710 line and Tower as the economy sheet. Most Duro lifetime guarantees cover insect attack, not every defect.

Wimco Ltd, founded in 1923 as the Western India Match Company, is known for safety matches, and in October 2026 we found no current plywood product or price list sold under the Wimco name. If you have a "Wimco" quote, check the maker and CM/L licence on the sheet and compare it with verified budget MR plywood.

Sylvan Ply groups its plywood into luxury, premium and budget tiers: Z+ Premium is an IS 10701 structural BWP sheet with E1 emission, Robusta Premium Plus is IS 710 marine grade, and Blu BWP is an IS 303 BWP budget line. Sylvan publishes no prices; October 2026 dealer listings sit around ₹123-129 per sq ft.

Bloom Dekor's website, checked in October 2026, lists designer laminated doors, frames and architraves rather than sheet plywood, and we found no current Bloom plywood price list. If a dealer offers "Bloom" plywood, check the maker and CM/L licence on the sheet, then compare it with the verified grades and prices below.
