Insights & Buying Guides

Rushil Decor sells boards under the VIR brand rather than plywood: VIR PRO interior MDF, VIR PROPLUS exterior-grade MDF and VIR MAXPRO, a high-density fibre water-resistant (HDFWR) board pitched for kitchens and bathrooms. VIR does not publish board prices, so compare dealer quotes by grade and thickness.

Greenpanel, India's largest MDF maker, sells both boards: online listings put 18mm interior MDF near ₹66 per sq ft and exterior MDF near ₹107, while its plywood runs from G-Pro MR (IS 303) to Gold (IS 710, 30-year guarantee) and Club (IS 10701, lifetime guarantee). See which board suits which job.

Action TESA makes engineered boards rather than plywood. Its 18mm HDHMR (density above 850 kg/m³) sells for about ₹70-104 per sq ft at dealers, and Boilo, its BWP and fire-retardant HDF board, lists near ₹113 per sq ft for 8mm. Compare rates, specs and where each board beats or trails plywood.

Greenply publishes entry prices before tax for its thinnest sheets: MR 303 from ₹45 per sq ft, Gold BWP (IS 710) from ₹55, 710 Marine from ₹60, Platinum fire-retardant from ₹67 and Club 700 structural from ₹76. For 18mm BWP, Greenply cites about ₹3,500-5,500 a sheet, or ₹109-172 per sq ft.

CenturyPly sells both lines at one national price: Sainik 710, its BWP plywood with a 10-year warranty, at ₹122 per unit (1 sq ft) including GST, and Club Prime, its premium marine-grade line with a 30-year warranty, at an MRP of ₹171 per unit. Compare grades, warranty terms, dealer rates and where each fits.
