Use 6mm plywood for light paneling, 12mm as the versatile all-rounder, 16mm for demanding interiors, 19mm for structural frames and 25mm for heavy-duty, load-bearing work. Match thickness to span, load and moisture so shelves do not sag and shutters do not warp.

Fire resistant (FR) plywood is chemically treated, often with ammonium phosphate or borates, so it forms an insulating char layer that slows flame spread and cuts smoke. In India, check IS 5509 compliance before using it in kitchens and offices.
