What is 12mm MR plywood?
MR plywood (moisture resistant) is the entry grade of IS 303:2024. Its test is the gentlest: samples are soaked for 3 hours in water at 60°C and dried, for three cycles. It is made for dry interiors, usually with urea formaldehyde glue. At 12mm, it is light enough to handle easily and stiff enough for shelves with short spans, drawer sides, partitions and wall paneling.
Where 12mm MR fits
- Good fit: internal shelves with short spans, drawer sides and backs of large units, wall paneling, false-ceiling frames, and partitions in dry rooms.

What moved plywood prices in 2026
Resin chemicals drove most of the change this year. Phenol and formaldehyde, the raw materials for BWR and BWP glue, rose sharply in March and April 2026, and the large brands passed it on: CenturyPly raised plywood prices by about 7% in April and Greenply by about 4-5%.
